Privateer Alliance vs Electus Matari
Reported By: ISD Amaari Yolkia
I basicly want to give my point of view on this match, because I've just listened to the commentators and they were really surprised we lost this match. There were several reasons why it didn't go too well, but I'll try to sum them all up:
- First of all we didnt expect them to show up with the same setup considering we showed up with abaddons last time and that could have put a lot of hurt on their shield tanking ships. Whether this was doublebluff, a lot of confidence in their setup or some other reason, I dont know. So we decided that there's a chance that they would change their setup to counter ours, we would just go for something else.
- Second we had to cover 50km to reach our targets. On top of that the maelstrom pilot made the right move to burn in opposite direction to make it harder for our plated thoraxes to burn over and put the dps on him (this is also why it took a bit before the full dps was put on the maelstrom). Also along the way one or two of our raxes got webbed by ishkurs trying to burn over. Furthermore, the ishkurs were all over the place, so making them primary would have given them more time to basicly shoot their primaries, because then we would have to burn over to our next primary once an ishkur was down.
- This 50km also meant that Vespa's needed a bit of time to cross over, so there was a good chance of one thorax to go down while burning over.
- Third the maelstrom didn't have all highslots fitted with guns, but he also had 2 smartbombs. This was one of the keyfactors imo why EM were so succesfull. As we are burning over, negating the damage of the drakes with our vespa's, a lot of them were wiped out shortly after. We tried to save as many as possible, but a lot of them were lost. This meant the drakes could focus on their primaries again. The original plan was to make the Drakes switch to FoF's, giving us enough time to gank the Maelstrom and then shoot the drakes.
- We chose the maelstrom, because of all the slow ships that were there we thought that the mael would go down faster compared to the Drakes that were there. Drakes have seriously strong passive tanks that even 8 thoraxes need a bit of time to kill them (althought it was expected that we would loose one or two while burning over). These ships were grouped together, that once we came in there, we could consequently follow primary, secondary etc. instead of burning all over the place to kill targets.
- I guess we also underestimated the damage of ishkurs once we were close, because we chose the drakes after the mael, but at this point I believe we lost already. The call was made to switch to ishkurs to get as many points out of it as possible to increase our chance of going through. In hindsight we lost the match before it started when we brought our setup, they warped in at 50km and the maelstrom fitted 2 smartbombs.
Anyway I hope this clears things up for the commentators and hope you still like the privateers <3
Also want to congratulate the EM team, gj.
An extremely astute, honest and accurate description of the match. Privateers fought very well with what they brought and were excellent opponents. I salute your piloting skills. |
